There are many Early Childhood educators who are comfortable using a computer and related peripherals, and for them, the Council’s recent notice that candidates are now able to create electronic Professional Portfolios is good news.
When creating a CDA Professional electronic or "e-portfolio," candidates will locate or create the resource items and then upload them into designated folders online. Then, when the Statements of Competence and Professional Philosophy Statement are written, they are similarly included.
This process eliminates printing materials on paper. Each section of the e-portfolio template is set up in sequence and will indicate to the user when it has been completed.
E-portfolios are a good choice for those who have some technology and computer proficiency, understand how to save and upload files, photos, and attachments, and use a scanner.
Access to an e-portfolio program is through a paid yearly subscription. A CDA candidate can continue to access the completed CDA e-Portfolio online as long as the subscription is active.
If the candidate chooses to end the subscription, the portfolio can be downloaded as a PDF file and then kept in that format or can be printed off and put into a binder.
